St. Elfod Choir is made of a group of year 5 and 6 pupils, boys and girls who have successfully passed an audition with their music teacher Mrs. Angharad Hughes.

Mrs. Hughes is a harpist, pianist and singing teacher. She loves all kinds of music and teaches and inspires all of us.

There are 45 of us in the choir we all practise hard every Wednesday from 3.15pm to 3.45pm. We learn new songs every week WE have a good time and lots of fun. Some of the songs we have learnt are:

·        I’m o.k.

·        The tongue

·        The three bears

·        Favourite things

·        Pop goes the peas

·        Harvest praise

·        When it’s a sunny day

·        Easy peasy harvest

·        Spare a thought

·        Joseph

·        And many many more

Singing is good because:

·        It helps to warm up your vocal cords

·        Makes us happy

·        Sounds nice – especially we are all singing together

·        Makes other people smile or tap their feet when they hear us sing

Sometimes some of us have solo parts with the choir joining in on the chorus

Mrs. Hughes teaches us beats and rhythms and lots of Italian words like;

 ·        Crescendo         ------ Gradually louder.

·        Diminuendo        ------ Gradually softer.

·        Legato              -------Smoothly.

·        Piano                 -------Soft.

·        Forte                        ------Loud.

Sometimes we go on outings to watch other choirs and concerts. We have watched Watoto these are an African choir.

This was great fun, we listened to the choir and then we joined in with their music.

Brass musicians, this was a 5 piece brass band who taught us all about the brass instruments.

Our choir have done many concerts, including a concert in memory of Ben Perrin at the Rhyl Pavilion theatre. We sing for many occasions at school including school concerts, prize giving’s and assemblies.

We have also sung at Tesco’s to raise money for the school all of which have been very successful.
